Our 2010 April Hunt

When: 11 April 2010, 1:00 PM

Our first hunt of the year will be at the UW. We'll plan to be on site at about 12:30 PM.

Where: University of Washington campus

The University of Washington lies in the heart of Seattle, with easy access from I-5. This page includes driving and parking directions for the hunt.

What: Foot Hunt

The University of Washington is a beautiful campus, full of interesting architecture and greenery, and lots of great places to play hide-and-seek!

The hunt will be done entirely on foot, starting from "Red Square". Maps will be given out showing the boundaries of the hunt. No busy streets will need to be crossed, so the hunt should be pretty kid-friendly.

Before the hunt we'll have a short intro and practice session, and will happily answer any and all "stupid questions", so prior experience is not necessary. For that matter, no amateur radio license is needed either, so feel free to bring a friend!

There will be five transmitters hidden around the site, taking turns transmitting on 146.565MHz.

You can hunt with only a normal 2-meter handheld and a paper clip, and we will have a few extra sets of hunting gear, so don't let lack of equipment stop you from coming.

Insomuch as we're keeping score, the first person to return to the starting point after finding all five "foxes" will win everlasting fame and glory!

After the hunt we will adjourn to a local restaurant for an informal lunch and gab session.

Hope to see you there!
